Date: November 14th, 2026
Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Presenter : Jasmine Berger
Time: 3 Hours
Location: Virtual, Via Zoom (Link sent Monday before training)
Description:
Divorce and separation can be some of the most significant disruptions in a child’s life, even when handled with care. Children often struggle to understand and adapt to these changes, and therapy becomes an important space to process their experiences. In this workshop, mental health professionals will explore the emotional and developmental impact of divorce and separation on children. We’ll discuss common themes that emerge in the playroom, how these themes may present across different ages, and how to respond in a way that fosters healing and connection. Participants will also learn developmentally appropriate, play-based interventions to help children express their feelings, regain a sense of stability, and navigate their shifting family dynamics.
Objectives
Identify at least three common play themes that may emerge in therapy sessions with children experiencing divorce or separation.
Analyze the emotional and behavioral impact of divorce and separation on children’s mental health, including how play therapy provides a safe and effective modality for support.
