Therapeutic Evaluation in St. Louis

Bud to Bloom Play Therapy offers a thoughtful and kind approach to therapeutic evaluation for children and teens. Whether you’ve been referred by your own child or family therapist, your child’s school, or another source—we’re here to help you gain insight.

What to Expect in Your Evaluation

When you bring your child in for an assessment at Bud to Bloom, you can expect a thorough, compassionate, and supportive process designed to understand and address your child’s unique needs.

Assessments typically consist of 1-2 interview sessions, where we gather information about your child’s history, behavior, and any other concerns you may have. We then invite you in for a “feedback session,” where we review insight from your child’s assessment with you.

We can help with

  • Gaining insight to enhance therapy, including developmental trauma treatment

  • Creating an understanding of how trauma has impacted your child’s development, so you can have clear expectations of them and tools to use at home

  • Informing and improving your family’s therapy experience by identifying strengths and areas of growth in your relationships

  • Trauma Assessments

We understand how overwhelming it can be to navigate your child’s trauma. Our trauma assessments are designed to provide a clear, compassionate understanding of your child’s experiences and their impact. Through two in-office sessions and a detailed feedback session, we identify specific needs and create a tailored support plan. This comprehensive approach not only helps address immediate concerns but also lays a strong foundation for your child’s future emotional and psychological resilience. Our goal is to empower your family with the tools and insights needed for lasting healing and growth.

  • Relationship Assessments

Our relationship assessments focus on understanding and improving the dynamics between you and your child. Utilizing the Marshak Interaction Method, we conduct in-person, play-based assessments that provide valuable insights into your interactions.

Following the assessment, we offer a comprehensive feedback session to discuss our findings and recommend strategies to enhance your relationship. Our approach aims to foster stronger, healthier connections within your family, ensuring that both you and your child feel supported and understood.
