Making School Playful: School-Based Play Therapy

$150.00

Date: June  28th

Time: 9-4:30

Presenter : Molly Rush

Time: 6 Hours (4 Skills and methods & 2 special topics )

Location: 1310 Papin Steet, St. Louis MO 63103

Description:

The school environment provides an opportunity for many children to access therapeutic mental health support, however, this setting presents its own challenges for school-based clinicians. In this workshop we will examine the history of play-based mental health interventions in school and the impact school based therapy has on decreasing societal stigma surrounding mental health. We will work together to identify and practice effective methods of partnering with school faculty, staff, and caregivers to support students. You will leave this training with additional knowledge on play therapy goal setting, interventions for transitioning to and from therapy setting, and play-based interventions.

1. Analyze history of play therapy based interventions in school settings.

2. Explain the benefits of play therapy in schools for children and faculty

3. Demonstrate the ability to create play therapy goals applicable to academic settings.

4. Discuss 3-5 effective play therapy  interventions for transitioning students to/from therapy.

5. Demonstrate 2-4 play-based interventions for the school setting.

6. Discuss play based strategies for partnering with caregivers in the school setting.
