Presenter : Jasmine Berger

Time: 3 Hours

Description:

Complex trauma, particularly when it is chronic or involves a caregiver, can leave both children and therapists feeling hopeless. This workshop is designed to restore that sense of hope by equipping clinicians with practical, evidence-based tools for working with young children who have experienced trauma.

Through the lens of prescriptive play therapy, participants will learn how to integrate principles from CBT, attachment theory, neuroscience, and non-directive play therapy to support healing and resilience. The workshop will explore the research supporting play therapy as an effective treatment for trauma in children under age 10 and will provide concrete strategies for case conceptualization and treatment planning.

Clinicians will leave with renewed confidence and a clear framework for helping children and families move from surviving to thriving.

Objectives

  • Explain the benefits and rationale for using play therapy to treat complex trauma in young children

  • Demonstrate case conceptualization skills to effectively use prescriptive play therapy approaches to treat traumatized youth.
